Chana Whole, more commonly known as Kala Chana, or Bengal Grams, belongs to the chickpea family. Similar appearance to yellow chickpeas, but dark in colour and smaller in size, Bengal Grams are a great source of protein, iron, fiber and folic acid. They also contain small amounts of manganese, copper and zinc.
Bengal Grams make for a healthy and colourful addition to any meal. Add boiled Bengal Grams to salad or try out a Kala Chana curry, an Indian stew that uses Bengal Grams and spices such as Turmeric and Ginger.
